Project Overview
Westernport Plumbing carried out a complex drainage job at Coronet Bay, connecting the existing house drain through to the sewer. The old septic tank was on the far side of the property, which meant the new run had to pass directly under the client’s driveway.
Why It Was Complicated
Properties around Coronet Bay were built on septic systems, so when the sewer arrives the existing house drain rarely lines up with where the new connection point sits. The drain has to be taken from where it is to where it now needs to go, and on this block that meant cutting through the driveway.
Driveway work is the part clients worry about, and reasonably so. The trench has to be cut cleanly, the drain laid at the correct depth and fall, then the ground properly backfilled and compacted before reinstatement, because poorly compacted fill under a driveway shows up as cracking and settlement within a year or two.
Our Approach
The run was set out to find the shortest practical path with the least disruption to the property. We cut and excavated the driveway, laid the new drain to grade, and backfilled and compacted in layers before reinstating the surface. Because we run our own excavation plant, the cutting, digging, drainage and backfill all happened as one job rather than three trades taking turns, which keeps the driveway open for as little time as possible.
All work completed to AS/NZS 3500.2 by a fully licensed plumber, Lic No. 43406.
